Unilever has a winner in Magnum ice cream. It is one of the most popular brands of ice cream in the world. It is debuting in the US markets which is perhaps the largest market for ice creams in the world. Unless you are successful in the US market your success elsewhere in the world doesn’t count for nothing. Unilever is taking the challenge of the US market very seriously and have put together the best possible creative team to handle the promotional campaign. They have commissioned none other than Karl Lagerfeld to direct a trilogy of films for magnum.
First of the trilogy starring actress Rachel Bilson is being premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film is called Photo Mood and is visually a very rich film. It was shown at the IAC building in New York City. There was a simultaneous broadcast available on the Magnum’s Facebook page which was available to the entire world through internet. Karl Lagerfeld has surpassed himself in these films. The sensory beauty of the films is unmatched. Ms. Bilson also went gaga over the films and the whole experience of making them with Karl. Each film is a snapshot of the life of the character. And through Magnum ice cream it conveys a message that how simple it is to enjoy life’s little pleasures.
The three films are called Photo Mood, Art Class and Applause. Ms. Bilson plays a fashion model, an art student and a ballerina respectively. Each character ends up escaping to indulge with a Magnum ice cream bar. Baptiste Giabiconi features in the Applause as the ballerina as her boyfriend. Brian Manning, VP of Brand Building in ice cream division at Unilever is very happy with the films and thrilled at the overwhelming response it is generating. The films have woken up US to the remarkable pleasures they can enjoy with Magnum ice cream. The ice cream bars which are sold in six flavors retail for $2.59 each.
